Breaking Barriers: Azure Boosts NSG and Route Table Limits

Network scalability just got a major upgrade. If you have been hitting the architectural ceiling with your Azure Virtual Network configurations, the latest platform update is here to remove those bottlenecks and give your deployments more room to breathe.

Azure has officially increased default limits, effectively doubling or tripling your capacity for complex environments. You can now define up to 2,000 security rules per NSG, manage 6,000 addresses or ports per rule, and scale to 1,000 routes per route table. These changes significantly reduce the operational complexity of managing large-scale, enterprise-grade network topologies, allowing for more granular traffic control without the need for frequent support tickets or workarounds.
